Engineers in Particle Engineering on the Manufacturing team work to bring ALTA® products and processes into GMP production. The focus of this position is to perform the ALTA® manufacturing process on pilot scale equipment, which includes spray drying and applying gas-phase thin-film coatings. This role reports to an experienced member of the Particle Engineering GMP team and will work with a team of scientists and engineers. This is a full-time position, located in Boulder, Colorado.
Description
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist engineering with equipment installation and validation for a new manufacturing site.
- Support engineering by writing and updating SOPs, batch records, manufacturing instructions per Good Documentation Practices (GDP) for a new manufacturing process and equipment.
- Operate, test, and maintain assigned process equipment, including spray dryers and/or thin film coaters, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Prepare liquid formulations for spray drying, ensuring consistency and quality in each batch.
- Identify and promptly communicate any equipment or process-related issues to the development team for resolution.
- Collaborate with the development team to successfully transfer and scale processes from laboratory to pilot scale.
- Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory notebooks and equipment logs in compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Report results clearly through notebooks, batch records, presentations, and/or verbal updates, ensuring transparency and clarity.
- Work closely with subject matter experts to explore new process improvements and enhance technical knowledge.
- Partner with technical scientists and engineers to optimize processes and tailor products to meet specific requirements.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process challenges in collaboration with subject matter experts, identifying and implementing corrective actions.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety guidelines, and operational procedures, maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
- Demonstrate curiosity, attention to detail, follow procedures diligently, and work effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
Education and Experience
- Individuals should have the academic background and capability to perform the responsibilities and duties listed above and be willing to learn.
- HS Diploma, equivalent is required. Technical degree or Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Biomedical, or Mechanical), Materials Science, or Chemistry is preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing or lab operations and an understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is preferred.
- Knowledge of spray drying, thin film coating technology (ALD, CVD, Etc.), or particle technology is ideal (not required).
- Proficient in the use of Excel for data analysis and use of Word for authoring documents.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are preferred.

Salary and Benefits
The position offers compensation within the range of $60,000 - $85,000, determined by the applicant’s experience and alignment with current and future responsibilities.
