What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance/Process Technician position at Vitro?
The Maintenance/Process Technician is a member of the production unit who provides equipment troubleshooting and gathers pertinent information for Production & Engineering by continuously evaluating the process equipment and recommending changes to improve safety, quality and value.
This position is currently a 1-2 year position with the opportunity to possibly transfer within the company upon Plant Closure. Responsibilities
**THIS IS A 2ND SHIFT POSITION**
Performs minor and/or routine repairs to a variety of equipment and machinery, including air cylinders, machinery, and instrumentation
Familiarity with Fanuc robots, robot pendant operation, Allen-Bradley controllers and logic, and associated logic preferred
Performs major and/or emergency repairs to equipment and machinery as required. Installs and disassembles machinery, equipment, and structures
Completes job orders and performs miscellaneous maintenance functions to service production lines. Performs a variety of preventive maintenance tasks to ensure efficient, reliable operation of production processes and equipment
Uses mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic drawings to: troubleshoot causes of equipment and system malfunctions or breakdowns; repair and/or modify existing parts and equipment; fabricate new parts and equipment; and construct/install facilities and equipment
Operates fork lift, man lift, and floor-controlled overhead crane
Maintains and compiles a variety of required log books, records, and reports. Informs supervision of equipment or machinery requiring repair, and of observed current or potential problem areas. Communicates necessary information and responds to requests for repair or assistance from production supervisors, line personnel, and other maintenance personnel
Provides training and/or assistance to other maintenance personnel. Performs miscellaneous maintenance, repair, and housekeeping duties as assigned
Plans and performs technical maintenance functions, both electrical and mechanical, on special projects and equipment installations and upgrading as assigned
Investigate process development problems, propose solutions, communicate and gather input from others and implement approved solutions to support continuous improvement goals and ensure best solutions are applied
Work with Engineering to determine new products and equipment to be tested and help to establish the parameters for evaluating new products and equipment (including assisting in the actual testing), to ensure a comprehensive assessment of new product and equipment prior to mass production
Occasionally order spare parts and supplies, etc. as necessary, determine adequate stock levels and write store additions and reductions to maintain proper inventory of parts and supplies used in specific areas of accountability
Participates in all blueprint reviews in specified areas of accountability to ensure production readiness of equipment
Follows all safety regulations including, but not limited to, wearing all designated PPE and adhering to LOTO procedures. Proper use and disposal of cleaning agents.
Performs job duties in a way to prevent harm to public health and the environment; conserve energy, water, and raw materials; and integrate pollution prevention.
Qualifications
This position provides technical assistance to Production in resolving day-to-day production problems.
Candidates will preferably possess experience in automotive manufacturing, PLC's, as well as in products and process capabilities. S/he must also possess strong technical aptitude and maintain an up-to-date basic knowledge of all plant processes as each area is closely dependent upon the others. The ability to read blueprints to help assure that customer specifications are met.
The incumbent should possess strong technical trouble-shooting skills and be able to work either as part of a team or independently, as the situation dictates. S/he must also have good communication skills (both verbal and written) to communicate and work effectively with employees at all levels within the plant, as well as outside vendors and contractors. A strong work ethic, attention to detail and knowledge of plant security/confidentiality policies when dealing with outside suppliers are also required.
**PLC Experience is a Strong Plus**
