A lab assistant is responsible for supporting laboratory technologists in conducting experiments by preparing samples, maintaining laboratory equipment, managing inventory, following safety protocols, and performing routine tasks like cleaning, preparing solutions, and documenting results, all under the supervision of a senior lab personnel; essentially acting as a key support role in the laboratory environment to ensure smooth operations and accurate data collection.

Job Responsibilities
- Labeling and organizing samples for analysis according to established protocols.
- Cleaning, calibrating, and sterilizing laboratory equipment.
- Ordering, receiving, and storing laboratory supplies and reagents.
- Setting up experimental apparatus and preparing solutions as directed.
- Adhering to all laboratory safety guidelines and procedures.
- Proper disposing of hazardous materials according to regulations.
- Maintaining detailed laboratory records and logs.
- Identifying and reporting minor equipment issues.
- Collaborating with technologists and other lab staff to ensure efficient workflow.
- Conducting quality control checks on reagents and samples. Helping Lab Manager with inspection preparation.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
- Other duties as assigned or needed.
- May require weekend shift
- Highly organized and strong work ethic.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-past, deadline-driven environment.
- Communication - Proficient verbal and written communication skills. Ability to use a computer.
- Teamwork - Commitment to the successful achievement of team and organizational goals through a desire to participate with and help other members of the team
- Dependable; follow instructions, respond to management direction, complete tasks on time or notify appropriate person with an alternate plan.
- Visual acuity and analytical skills to distinguish fine detail.
- Manual dexterity to use common laboratory equipment and perform sterile techniques as required.
- Must possess ability to perform repetitive motion.
- May be required to handle blood-borne pathogens and general laboratory reagents
- Associate Degree in Science or higher. Additional training or certification is a plus.
- 1 year experience in similar position.
