Position Summary :
The Environmental, Safety, and Health Manager - Marine reports directly to the COO. The incumbent directs all Environmental, Health, and Safety activities including, but not limited to; organizing, coordinating and administering the Company's safety regulatory compliance and environmental programs. This position is responsible to achieve department and Company goals in training, policy development and implementation programs, complying with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, and in alignment with Company goals and strategies.
Essential Job Functions :
- Performs duties in a safe and sensible manner in accordance with all Company policies and procedures, and state and federal regulations
- Keeps apprised of federal, state, and local laws and regulations in order to ensure Company compliance.
- Acts as a Qualified Person Ashore for USCG liaison in incident reporting and spill clean-up.
- Works closely with staff in engineering, operations, human resources, and management to develop, implement, and monitor health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, programs, and objectives.
- Advises and collaborates with Port Engineer to develop and implement corrective actions and appropriate maintenance schedules.
- Drives and implements a total Safety Culture using behaviorally-based methodologies. Manages pre-season crew training programs.
- Ensures continuous improvement of the Company's safety performance and overall safety culture by frequently interacting with supervisors and continuously implementing new and effective safety programs designed to maintain employee awareness.
- Provides technical support to field and corporate personnel to ensure compliance with federal and state safety and health regulations.
- Develops and provides compliance training to all employees.
- Develops and provides health safety and environmental training to all employees.
- Plans, develops, and monitors inspection programs for facilities and operations to ensure compliance with various USCG, NFPA, OSHA, ADEC, and AWO requirements.
Conducts routine scheduled and spot inspection of marine assets and vessels to ensure compliance with USCG requirements.

The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles and equipment.
The employee must be able to physically travel by air within, and out of, the State of Alaska.
