What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Care Aide position at Viva Pediatrics?
We are a Pediatric Day Center for medically fragile special needs children. We provide daily nursing care (M-F, 7:30am-5:00pm) in our facility for children ages birth thru 21 years of age who qualify for skilled nursing services. We are seeking Aide's to assist in providing a safe and clean environment for our patients.
A Direct Care Aide providing services on behalf of a center will have at least the following qualifications and experience:
Be 18 years of age or older;
A high school diploma or a general equivalency degree;
one of the following:
One year of experience employed in a health care setting providing direct care to minors who are medically or technologically dependent;
Two years of experience employed in a health care, childcare, or school setting providing direct care to minors who are medically or technologically dependent;
Two years of experience employed in a health care setting providing direct care to adults; or
sufficient skills to meet competency and training requirements
Maintain a current certification in Pediatric Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and basic First Aid.
A Direct Care Aide providing services on behalf of a center will be responsible for the following:
Provide direct patient care to patient under direction of the RN and according to the Aide Plan of Care.
Provide necessary skills to assist the patient with safe transfers and ambulation per center policy.
Provide necessary skill to appropriately report changes and document pertinent information and care rendered to minors to ensure continuity of care.
Practice accepted infection control practice. Promote a clean, safe environment.
Promote positive, supportive, respectful communication to minors, parents and the IDT.
Provide an environment which promotes respect for patient, privacy and property.
Provide skills necessary to assist the minor with proper nutrition and adequate fluid intake.
Promote and adhere to center policies.
Attend meetings and inservices as required by the center.
