Job Summary
The Healthcare Medical Records Clerk is responsible for the organization, maintenance, and confidentiality of patient medical records. This role involves accurate data entry, record retrieval, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to ensure the seamless flow of information within the healthcare facility.
Job Responsibilities
• Maintain and organize patient medical records, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Enter and update patient information into electronic health records (EHR) systems and other databases with precision and attention to detail.
• Retrieve and distribute patient records as requested by healthcare professionals, ensuring timely access to relevant information.
• Uphold strict confidentiality standards for patient records, adhering to HIPAA regulations and facility policies.
• Process requests for the release of medical information in accordance with legal and organizational guidelines.
• Conduct regular audits of patient records to identify and rectify discrepancies or incomplete information.
• Work closely with other administrative staff, healthcare providers, and billing teams to ensure accurate and up-to-date patient records.
• Manage the archival and retrieval process for inactive patient records, maintaining compliance with record retention policies.
• Assist patients, healthcare professionals, and other staff with inquiries related to medical records in a courteous and helpful manner.
• Stay informed about updates to record-keeping systems and provide training to staff as needed.
