Job Title: Director of Accounting and Finance
Overview:
The Director of Accounting & Finance is responsible for financial oversight, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial operations. This role oversees financial reporting, tax compliance, cash management, and internal controls while supporting executive leadership with financial insights. Additionally, the Director mentors team members and works cross-functionally to enhance financial literacy across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain processes for cash management, accounts payable, payroll, sales audits, and financial close.
- Ensure all accounting operations comply with GAAP standards and industry regulations.
- Oversee daily accounting activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and accurate financial record-keeping.
- Manage fixed asset tracking, additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules to ensure proper accounting.
- Monitor and analyze cash flow across all restaurant locations on a bi-weekly or as-needed basis.
- Implement, enforce, and regularly review internal controls to ensure policy adherence, financial accuracy, and risk management.
- Lead the consolidation of financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for the company and specific entities.
- Coordinate year-end close and collaborate with external auditors and tax partners to ensure timely and compliant audits and filings.
- Strengthen local accounting procedures, proactively addressing unit-level issues, and continuously improving financial controls and reporting.
- Partner with owners and leadership teams to enhance operational efficiency and business success through financial analysis, cost management, and compliance with contractual requirements.
- Provide strategic financial guidance and recommendations to support overall business objectives, growth, and profitability.
- Develop and implement financial strategies by analyzing trends, optimizing productivity, and enhancing operational systems to drive performance.
- Oversee the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring accurate financial projections, effective resource allocation, and data-driven decision-making across departments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required | CPA preferred.
- 6-8 years of relevant experience.
- Expertise in managing external audit/tax relationships.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting.
- Proficient in accounting principles, including revenue recognition and lease accounting.
- Excellent technical, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to resolve complex accounting issues effectively.
- Experience with mid-to-large-scale ERP systems preferred.
- Advanced financial modeling skills in Excel.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities.
PAY TRANSPARENCY: The estimated {annual or hourly} pay range for this position is $140k - $160k bonus. Actual compensation will be determined by the hiring authority and may vary depending on qualifications and other factors relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
