Scope
- Assist the Director of Clinical Care (DOCC) to manage all functions within the clinical team.
- Assist the DOCC to manage day-to-day functions of the nursing department in accordance with current federal and state regulations to ensure quality of care is always provided.
- Provide leadership and support to the clinical team.
- Assist the DOCC to communicate performance standards that are specific and measurable. Use effective training techniques to help others develop their capabilities. Maintain methods to track employees’ progress and performance. Provide specific performance feedback as soon as possible after the event or action. Complete performance reviews for direct reports.
- Assist the DOCC to monitor and implement organizational changes and quality standard improvements.
- Work effectively with other departments and teams. Understand the needs of the organization and work with others to achieve priority initiatives. Build relationships with departments across the organization. Understand, at a high level, the priorities, and processes of other departments/teams.
- Assist the DOCC to provide day-to-day work direction and problem solving as issues or conflicts arise. Assist the DOCC to provide ongoing employee development opportunities. Create and maintain a work environment for employees that is conducive to high productivity and morale. Establish and maintain effective communication systems with employees.
- Participate with resident pre-admission screenings and admissions.
- Attend work related meetings as needed.
- Complete annual and within 30 days of hire unlicensed staff supervisions.
- Participate in clinical team interviews.
- Will work at least one off-shift per week and one weekend shift per month to build relationships with the team members present during those shifts.
- The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.
- Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota.
- Must obtain CPR certification within 6 months from date of hire.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in nursing is preferred along with three (3) years of management and geriatric and rehabilitation nursing experience.
- Must possess strong management, organizational, communication and analytical skills.
- Must have an ability to lead and work effectively with residents and families, coworkers, and staff who collectively possess a variety of personalities and backgrounds.
- Must have a good understanding of federal and state regulations and guidelines affecting nursing home care.
- Must have strong computer skills.
- Must be knowledgeable of Nursing and Medical practices and procedures.
- Must complete and pass a state required background study.
- Able to physically perform the duties required by the position.
- Required to have the ability to read, write and speak English well enough to communicate with staff, residents and visitors.
