Role Overview: You will be responsible for propagating bacteria for inoculation of production batches, and executing research experiments designed by the senior technical staff, and working with customer service staff.
Responsibilities
- Read and understand weekly production schedule
- Select appropriate product bacterial seed and propagating seed to final inoculum
- Conduct Quality Control (QC) testing on seed and intermediate steps of production inoculum
- Maintain and propagate production and research seed bank
- Retain a working knowledge of selective plating techniques
- Relay experimental data effectively to senior technicians and assist in analysis
- Maintain proper documentation and record keeping for the seed bank
- Maintain a clean and well stocked working environment on a weekly basis
- Practice safety in all aspects; wear proper Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), etc.
- Fulfill any additional requests from supervisor
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Life/Food Science or related field, or an associate degree with 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting, or high school diploma or equivalent with 2 years laboratory experience
- Mastered aseptic technique is valued but not required
- Strong organizational and record keeping skills
- Capabilities to act as a strong independent and key team player
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills
- Good work ethic and enthusiastic learner
- Consistent attendance and punctuality
- Advanced multitasking abilities in order to address different projects congruently
- Able to lift/carry up to 70 lbs
- Able to work in a standing position for extended periods of time
- Mastered aseptic technique is valued but not required
- Ability to act as a strong independent and key team player
- Strong attention to detail, data entry, accuracy, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Well organized, detail oriented and self-motivated
Expected Scheduling: Weekdays, 7am-3:30pm and weekends as needed
