POSITION SUMMARY: The Communications Manager is responsible for internal and external communications across key stakeholder audiences, developing and implementing an integrated, organization-wide strategic communication plan to broaden awareness of YFA and strengthening the YFA brand. The Communications Manager works closely with YFA senior leadership as the communications partner on a variety of strategic initiatives, assisting the Vice President of Development as required in managing organization events. The Communications Manager is a self-directed individual who possesses planning and organization skills with attention to detail, and can multitask, prioritize while possessing listening and problem-solving skills.

WHAT YOU NEED:
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in public relations, English, Marketing/Communications or other related field and 4 years of experience or master’s degree and 3 years of experience.
Preferred knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed principles and practices, including the importance of creating a safe environment, fostering trust, promoting collaboration, and empowering individuals.
Physical Requirements: Position may involve extended periods of time on computer keyboard. Requires ability to travel locally and regionally. Ability to lift 30 pounds, bend, stand or to sit for extended periods of time.

What You Will Do
- Acts as Public Information Officer (radio, TV, newspaper, publications)
- Serves as primary contact for media and public
- Leads crisis communication efforts with senior leadership
- Creates press releases for events, milestones, and achievements
- Develops Public Service Announcements and editorial responses
- Develops and evaluates a comprehensive communication plan
- Develops, implements, and evaluates the crisis communication plan
- Manages media contacts and speaker's bureau
- Creates and posts regular content for social media accounts
- Ensures consistent brand messaging across platforms
- Develops and executes social media campaigns (e.g., National Adoption Day)
- Manages website content updates and consistency
- Develops print, electronic, and video collateral (e.g., newsletters, brochures)
- Writes and distributes internal employee and stakeholder updates
- Creates educational presentations for various audiences
- Attends events to gather content for communications
- Maintains comprehensive knowledge of YFA programs and initiatives
- Tracks and measures internal and external engagement
- Monitors and evaluates strategies related to trauma-informed practices
- Promotes employee self-care, well-being, and EAP
- Supports staff providing trauma-informed care
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication
- Strong conflict resolution, organization, and attention to detail
- Skilled in social media writing and strategy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrates respect, teamwork, and quality customer service
- Open to feedback and guidance from supervisors
