The Engineering Manager will oversee the planning, design, execution, and successful completion of capital projects. This role ensures alignment with organizational objectives, adherence to budgets and schedules, and compliance with safety and quality standards. The manager will lead cross-functional teams, manage engineering activities, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver projects effectively.
Project Leadership
Manage all engineering aspects of EPC projects, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and schedule.
Drive project success from conceptual design through detailed engineering and final handover.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, construction, and project controls, to deliver integrated project solutions.
Lead risk assessments, resolve technical challenges, and ensure compliance with client and industry standards.
Technical Oversight
Direct the development and review of engineering deliverables, including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
Ensure designs meet project requirements, applicable codes, and regulations.
Introduce and implement innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions.
Oversee the selection and integration of technologies relevant to oil & gas and chemical processing projects.
Develop and maintain interdisciplinary review procedures and quality standards for all engineering deliverables to meet or exceed defined requirements.
Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes. Implement technological improvements in project workflows
Team and Stakeholder Management
Hire, Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
Act as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project objectives and expectations.
Prepare and present progress reports, technical updates, and solutions to project stakeholders and management.
Resource and Budget Management
Plan and allocate resources efficiently to achieve project goals within budget constraints.
Manage engineering budgets, forecasts, and schedules, ensuring timely delivery of milestones.
Identify and implement strategies to optimize resource utilization and project profitability.
Develop and oversee the master list of engineering deliverables and manage its associated budget.
Education and Competencies
Education
Bachelor's degree in engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or related discipline).
Master's degree in engineering management or a related field is preferred.
Experience
15 years of progressive experience managing large-scale engineering projects in oil & gas or chemical processing industries, Ethanol industry experience is desirable.
Demonstrated success in leading projects exceeding $200 million from inception to completion.
Comprehensive knowledge of EPC project workflows, challenges, and mitigation strategies.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in engineering design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, HYSYS, ASPEN).
Strong knowledge of project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, INeight).
Familiarity with industry standards and codes (e.g., ASME, API, ANSI, NFPA).
Soft Skills
Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder management.
High level of analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Certifications
Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification is highly desirable.
PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification is a plus.
