What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hotel Manager position at VKB Management?
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
To supervise the operation of the Hotel efficiently. To hire and or train a qualified staff to produce the highest volume of sales and affect the greatest profit while maintaining a high degree of public satisfaction, confidence and prestige in the service and quality of the hotel. To follow Hotel policies and procedures. To remain competitive in every area and to produce and achieve budgetary goals. To maintain a high employee morale.
To supervise and participate in the operations of the hotel in order to achieve the desired sales and profit goals. To interact with current and potential guests including assisting with guest issues and responding to guest complaints. To become involved in the community and maintain positive relationships with community leaders. To maintain the highest ethical standards of operation and quality of services and facilities for the hotel. To ensure good working relationship by overseeing and guiding the staff through open communications and “hands on” participation. Be accountable and responsible personally for anything in all areas of the facility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Budget Management – Assists in developing and controlling operating budgets.
- Sales – Sell potential guests both within the hotel and outside the hotel. Do weekly sales calls and submit reports promptly to the management as per guidelines.
- Maintenance of Quality Standards – for proper guestroom cleanliness, function room set up and public room set-ups; maintenance of all facilities, service and employee performance. Is required to inspect rooms every day and follow-up on all work done by any employee to ensure cleanliness and brand standard requirements are met.
- Operations Analysis and Supervision – Analyzes operations and meets with all employees to review the operations and receive their suggestions.
- Develops Employees – Select and train employees and keep them informed of company policies; observes their performance. Delegates responsibilities, holds them responsible for standards set forth by Hotel, assists them in improving their level of performance.
- Employee Relations – Works with department heads and employees directly and counsels employees when necessary. Establishes programs to improve employee morale and motivation. Delegates work responsibilities in order to best utilize all personnel.
- Forecast and Planning – Participates and directs scheduled internal meetings regarding sales, forecasting, quality control, safety, etc.
- Reports – Prepares all reports on a timely basis. Analyzes and states strategies to improve.
- Hotel Building Improvements – Prepares required capital improvements list annually or as needed basis.
- Staffing – Studies and analyzes employee work assignments from which staffing guides are established and approved. Maintains DAILY check on payroll performance and takes affirmative action to correct high payroll costs. Allow absolutely NO overtime, except otherwise okayed by the Upper Management.
- Controls Other Expenses – Checks, controls and approves all other hotel expenses.
- Safety and Sanitation – Inspects the property and implements action to ensure the safety and comfort from fire, injury, or illness due to unsafe or unsanitary conditions.
- Authorization of Requisitions – Approves requisitions for purchases of all items as per guidelines provided by Upper Management.
- Competition – Obtain current, competitive rate information and any other information and do the needful to benefit Hotel’s performance.
- Home Office Communication – Review all significant items with Upper Management for information purposes, policy decisions, or assistance requests. Work closely with Upper Management.
- Direct Bill Accounts – Create new and maintain current accounts by calling on a weekly and monthly basis. To keep direct bill Received on Account (ROA) balance current within 60 days.
- To fill-in and work at any department (including front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance) within the facility due to absence, time off requests, shortage of help or when needed to double-up at front desk during busy check-in/out times.
