Job Summary
The Procurement Director will lead the procurement function of VLS Environmental Services Waste, Rail, and Marine divisions. Responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership for the procurement function, aligning it with the organizational goals. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong negotiation skills, extensive vendor management experience, and a proven track record of optimizing procurement processes. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and lead a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment.

Job Duties
- Manage all aspects of procurement activities for VLS, ensuring efficiency and alignment with company goals.
- Identify and evaluate potential vendors, maintain ongoing communication, and negotiate favorable contracts that support business needs for all divisions.
- Develop, prepare, and review bid specifications, purchase orders, and contracts to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
- Analyze spending patterns and identify opportunities for cost reduction; develop and implement cost-improvement strategies to enhance profitability.
- Collaborate in the development, implementation, and interpretation of procurement policies and procedures.
- Work closely with internal teams to assess their procurement needs, providing strategic insights and solutions.
- Lead, coach, and mentor the procurement team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Generate comprehensive reports for management, summarizing procurement activities, vendor performance, and cost savings initiatives.
- Identify and assess potential risks associated with vendor quality and supply chain disruptions; develop mitigation strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in procurement, with a proven track record of managing complex procurement activities and vendor relationships.
- Strong negotiation skills and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Deep understanding of market dynamics and procurement best practices.
- Solid analytical skills and proficiency in procurement software and tools.
- Proficient in MS Office
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven leadership abilities to effectively manage and motivate a team.
