Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Data Center Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the infrastructure of our data center, ensuring the reliability and performance of servers, networks, and associated hardware. You will collaborate with IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues while adhering to operational standards and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Installation & Maintenance:
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, networking equipment, and data center hardware (e.g., racks, PDUs, switches).
- Perform routine checks and preventative maintenance to ensure systems remain operational.
- Troubleshooting & Support:
- Diagnose and repair hardware and network issues.
- Replace faulty components (e.g., hard drives, memory modules, power supplies).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve critical system outages.
- Cabling & Connectivity:
- Manage and install structured cabling (e.g., Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optics).
- Perform cable management, including labeling, routing, and organization.
- Monitoring & Reporting:
- Use monitoring tools to ensure system uptime and performance metrics.
- Maintain accurate documentation for systems, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Compliance & Security:
- Follow industry best practices for security and data protection.
- Enforce access controls, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Operational Efficiency:
- Assist in capacity planning, inventory management, and resource allocation.
- Ensure proper environmental conditions (e.g., cooling, power) for optimal hardware performance.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a data center or IT infrastructure environment.
- Strong understanding of server hardware, networking equipment, and storage systems.
- Knowledge of cabling standards and practices (structured cabling, fiber optics, etc.).
- Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network-related issues.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
Experience:
- Testing & Troubleshooting MMF & SMF systems: 3 years (Preferred)
- Fiber: 3 years (Preferred)
- Data Center installation: 3 years (Preferred)
- Mechanical and Fusion Splice: 3 years (Preferred)
- OSP / Confined Space Entry: 3 years (Preferred)
