Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients’ functional status, including muscle function, endurance, and self-care abilities.
- Assess home environments for hazards and identify equipment needs.
- Develop and communicate individualized treatment plans and goals for improved function.
- Teach new skills or retrain patients in daily activities affected by illness or injury.
- Fabricate splints, recommend adaptive equipment, and train in prosthetic/orthotic devices.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and report changes in patients’ conditions to physicians.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care.
- Participate in discharge planning and quality improvement activities.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on treatment regimens and techniques.
