Description: Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician procures, prepares, packages, and distributes prescription drugs and pharmaceutical supplies. This position provides appropriate customer service support activities associated with the pharmacy.
Primary Functions:- Independently assists in the non-professional aspects of preparing and dispensing medications. Such duties to include, but are not limited to the following: properly operate all functions of the prescription pharmacy computer system including patient entry, drug selection, pricing, and correct SIG information. This position provides appropriate customer service support and clinical activities associated with the pharmacy.
- Responsible for opening and closing the pharmacy.
- Collaborates with physicians and nurses to establish drug administration schedules for patients.
- Manufactures and prepares sterile products.
- Prepares billing statements and processes patient credits and payments.
- Maintains required record-keeping.
- Maintains an established inventory of commonly used supplies and ensures medications have not expired.
- Processes products prepared or manufactured through the telepharmacy system and submits to a Pharmacist prior to issuing to patients.
- Familiarizes and complies with all VNA policies and procedures.
- Meets standards of behavior expectations.
- Follows established guidelines for use and/or disclosure of protected health information. Employees should report any breaches of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) rules to the Privacy Officer (Director of Quality, Education & Risk Management) immediately. Failure to comply with HIPAA policies and procedures will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Compensation: Hourly Range: $22.00 - $23.00, depending on experience.
Incentives: Earn up to $500.00 quarterly based upon meeting productivity goals.

- Licensed to practice in Illinois required.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification (PTCB CPhT or equivalent).
- One year pharmacy technician experience.
- Computer literacy.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish/English as follows: Reading - Required. Written – Required. Speaking – Required. This position verbally communicates in Spanish with many patients throughout the business day. Must be able to interpret and translate.
