We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team in Salina, Kansas! Volunteers of America is one of the nation’s largest comprehensive human services organizations. What You Will Do
As the Maintenance Technician, you will be the frontline of scheduled maintenance and property improvements in the complexes which our residents live. Responsible for the prompt and efficient preventive and corrective maintenance of the property to which assigned. The Maintenance Technician will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.
This is an on-site position working at two properties in Salina, KS at independent living, apartment communities for seniors and residents with disabilities. Hours of operation of the property are 8-5 Monday through Friday.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
- Performs routine maintenance on building systems.
- Communicate with the residents with respect and treat them with dignity when approached.
- Daily inspection of the property to ensure cleanliness, curb appeal, and proper function of all systems.
- Participate in On-Call rotation for after-hours emergencies.
- Maintain accurate records regarding preventative maintenance, service requests, apartment make-ready, and periodic inspections.
- Complete unit turnovers.
Qualifications
What You Will Bring:
- This position occasionally requires long hours and possible evening, weekend and holiday work. Requires the ability to be on call and respond, if necessary, to emergencies on the property, during business hours & after hours, when informed.
- Some travel required with paid mileage.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with residents of the community.
- Must have and maintain a working telephone contact number.
- Have reliable transportation, a valid Driver’s License & proof of current liability automobile insurance (your name must be on the policy).
- Have & maintain an acceptable driving record, criminal history checks, and Community Service Registry Record checks.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Experience in general maintenance including heating, air conditioning, electrical and plumbing equipment, and light carpentry preferred.
