Position Title: GED (General Education Development) Instructor
Fulltime Employment, Reports to: Carmen Rivera, Program Director
SALARY: 65K
Schedule: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm
Position Summary: Teach basic skills encompassing math, science, English, and literature. Help students prepare and study for GED exam. Assess students’ readiness to take exams. Teaching takes place 4 days a week, one day for lesson plans, evaluations, and marking tests. Responsible for the development of an effective curriculum for positive outcomes.
· Create lesson plans and modify them accordingly throughout the course.
· Teach students how to interact with others.
· Observe students to evaluate their abilities, strengths, and weaknesses.
· Instruct an entire class or smaller groups of students.
· Grade students’ assignments.
· Individualized Learning: Create individualized learning plans for each student, only if needed.
· Good teaching skills
· Ability to express ideas precisely in writing and in oral presentations.
· Must be organized and careful about time management
· Create cohorts of applicants to teach (50) students.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in adult education or a relevant field, and a teacher certificate in high
school or adult education. Prior teaching experience at the high school level is a bonus.
Salary : $65,000
