What are the responsibilities and job description for the Immigration Justice Advocate position at Voces Unidas?
We are looking for a full-time or part-time leader to join our team as an Immigrant Justice Advocate. This is a temporary position for 6 to 12 months, with the possibility of an extension based on grant funding. The Immigrant Justice Advocate will help coordinate our direct services and response efforts in the central mountain region. This position can be based in Frisco or Glenwood Springs offices. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. M-F, with occasional evening and weekend activities. This position is NOT remote.
Description
Responsibilities:
- Answer, manage and track reports to the immigration hotline
- Monitor and verify reports of immigration enforcement actions
- Maintain communication with impacted communities to relay important information and updates
- Assist individuals in accessing legal and direct services
- Collaborate with local organizations to ensure comprehensive support
- Maintain an up-to-date list of direct service providers in each county
- Help coordinate Know Your Rights trainings across the regions
- Prepare and distribute educational materials to community members
- Participate in special projects and events as needed
- Support other organizational activities to advance immigrant justice
Requirements:
- Demonstrated commitment to immigrant rights and social justice
- Experience in organizing, advocacy or social work preferred
- Knowledge of resources and services available to support the immigrant community
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Have access to a car
- Be able to work from an office and in the community, with occasional evening and weekend activities
- Fluent in English and Spanish is required

The starting salary will be based on experience. The organization will also consider part-time candidates or independent contractors.
