Virtual Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Full-Time (Alaska)
About VocoVision: VocoVision is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Virtual Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher to work remotely with students across Alaska. In this role, you will help students develop critical communication skills and thrive academically, regardless of geographical barriers.
Job Details:
- Position Type: Full-time
- Caseload: K-12 students
- Location: Remote (Serving students in Alaska)
- Contract: 1099 contracting position for the current school year and next year
Responsibilities:
- Deliver virtual instruction tailored to the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students using ASL and other appropriate communication methods.
- Collaborate with IEP teams to create and execute individualized education plans.
- Use technology and assistive tools to enhance learning experiences.
- Monitor and assess student progress and adjust instruction as necessary.
- Provide professional development support to Special Education staff, Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), and other team members.
- Regular communication with students, families, and educational staff.
- Travel to the school once or twice per month to meet with the team for coaching and consulting. Flight expenses will be covered by SESA/the district.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Deaf Education or Special Education (Masters preferred).
- Valid certification in Deaf Education or Special Education in Alaska (or willing to obtain).
- Fluency in ASL and other communication modalities.
- Experience teaching Deaf or Hard of Hearing students, especially in virtual environments.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
