We are currently looking for a Production Planning Coordinator to join our team in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Job description
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Reporting directly to the Production Planning Manager, the Production Planning Coordinator is responsible to ensure the continuous flow of all orders through the shop from planning through production and on to shipment. This applies to both incoming and outgoing material, raw to finished goods.
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
SAFETY:
- Adheres to all safety rules and sets an example for others while working in the yard and production areas.
QUALITY:
- Ensures accurate and timely generation of work orders.
- Oversees proper flow of required documentation through manufacturing process.
- Closes work orders and related documents.
- Ensures BOM’s routings are accurate.
- Leads monthly cycle count program.
- Ensures generation and issuing and closing of work orders and related documents and proper flow of documentation.
ON-TIME DELIVERY:
- Ensure that all sales orders are processed and planned into shop schedule to meet committed customer deliveries.
- Advise Sales Department of changes in the Production schedule.
- Monitor production progress according to schedule and coordinate priorities with production.
- Maintain the flow of material to and from X-ray, Heat Treat, Cleaning, and Subcontractors
- Maintain product delivery schedule and weekly shop schedules.
- Expedites product as required.
- Create, maintain, and ensure accuracy of shipping documentation as required.
COST:
- Creates accurate routings. Leads monthly cycle count program.
- Ensures set up and periodic update of standard times and costs for all produced products.
- Learn purchasing tasks as required.
- Seeks opportunities for cost savings.
PEOPLE:
- Coordinates with Production, Accounting, Engineering, Sales and Purchasing to ensure planning is realistic and up to date.
ENVIRONMENTAL:
- Adhere to Nortrak's Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALITIFCATIONS:
EDUCATION:
- Secondary School Graduation or equivalent.
FIELD OF EXPERIENCE:
- Three to five years relevant experience.
- Experienced in production coordination, coordination planning and developing schedules.
- Sound Knowledge of routings and reading blueprints.
- Sound knowledge of MS Office standard and special programs.
- Strong knowledge on MS Excel spreadsheets.
- SAP knowledge would be an asset.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
- Exhibit strong and effective verbal and communication skills.
- Able to keep multiple tasks organized.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment an asset.
PHYSCIAL DEMANDS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or climbing.
- Must be able to lift or handle up to 25 pounds at times.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Occasional travel may be required which includes walking, standing, sitting and driving from short to long periods of time.
