Summary/Objective
Under the supervision of PHS Manager, this position primarily operates and maintains the Prima Power, CNC 5 Axis Production Laser and related tools and equipment. This position may also perform other production activities, including but not limited to supporting the production team by assembling parts, operating machinery, and cleaning and maintaining equipment and the shop floor.
Essential Functions
- Assures specific quality guidelines are met and, if necessary, takes appropriate actions and measures to rectify quality issues.
- Maintains a safe and clean work area.
- Follows established safety rules and regulations.
- Operates the CNC laser engraving and cutting machines and other machinery used in the production process, or assist other machine operators.
- Selects and sets up lenses based on material type and thickness, loads programs, sets machine parameters and proper fixtures to ensure optimal performance of the equipment.
- Establishes proper stop location, adjust laser beam focal point.
- Creates and edit laser cut files from CAD drawings in various formats using Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator; prepare, lay out and array parts from the cut files in the laser software for optimal engraving and cutting speeds and yield.
- Manage and maintain files to ensure matching revision levels at all times.
- Monitor fill level of chiller system and process gases, and report reordering levels.
- Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task.
- Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on machines and equipment as required.
- Perform all dimensional inspections.
- Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions.
- Performs typical machine shop operations to support the production and fabrication of metal parts.
- Must be familiar with the basic machine functions in order to perform the tasks stated above.
- Must be willing to accept and receive supervision and assistance with regards to machine set-up.
- Must be able to operate with minimal supervision once trained by following work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full time position. This role operates on a shift schedule. Shifts are scheduled on three levels, 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Based on shift schedule, this position will work at least 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday. As production demands it, this role will be required to work overtime hours including weekend.

Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent years of experience.
- One year of related shop experience operating and maintaining CNC lasers.
- Training in general safety awareness and practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Ability to use/read tape measures. Working knowledge of using calipers & micrometers a plus.
- Ability to read and write English, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Proficient using a PC in a Windows environment.
- Simple shop math.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience using Prima Power CNC Lasers is a plus.
- Two or more year of related shop experience, preferably in a metal fabrication environment.
- Experience with 2D/3D CAM/CAD software and Graphics Design software a plus.
- Experience using Manufacturing software for scheduling, routing and processing functions.
- Quality system awareness.
- Some experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel, and label printing software.
