This role involves advising clients on regulatory compliance, negotiating and drafting agreements, and representing clients in litigation and before regulatory bodies.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance: Advise clients on matters related to oil and gas operations, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
- Contract Negotiation and Drafting: Negotiate, review, and prepare surface agreements, mineral leases, and other related contracts.
- Litigation: Represent clients in disputes over surface agreements, mineral leases, payment of rents and royalties, and other related matters.
- Title Work: Prosecute and defend dormant mineral actions, quiet title actions, and perform other curative title work related to mineral interests.
- Trusts and Estate Planning: Assist in establishing mineral-related trusts and limited liability companies for the protection and management of mineral interests.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the North Dakota State Bar, or eligibility for admission.
- Experience in energy law, particularly in oil, gas, and energy sectors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
