The Piping Designer is an integral part of the HRSG project team. The Piping Designer's focus is the design of ASME pressure piping, including routing, 3D modeling, and creation of piping isometrics. Works under the direction of the Piping Manager, Project Design Lead, and in parallel with Engineering to ensure routing is adequate for system stresses while meeting project requirements (e.g. valve access).

The base pay range for this Piping Designer role is $80,000 - $95,000 annually.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Review project customer specifications
- Prepare piping isometrics and itemized bill of materials
- Communicate with other departments within the organization
- Generate weight calculations for piping spools
- Develop and maintain 3D models
- Participate in internal and customer 3D model walk-throughs
- Provide thorough checking of drawings and bill of materials
- Assist with the review of vendor and subcontractor generated drawings
- Serve as consultant for shop and field questions
- Create project as-built drawings if required
- Maintain knowledge of current product designs, standards, and procedures
- Assist in development of General Arrangement and Setting drawings
- Travel to jobsite(s) for short field assignments
- Identify/develop and use tools and techniques that improve the accuracy and/or efficiency of Department and project work
Job Requirements / Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- High school diploma supplemented by college level engineering courses or associated degree in an engineering related field. Demonstrated knowledge and technical competency may be substituted for the educational requirements
- Five (5) years piping design experience (for intermediate level)
- Proficient in the use of design software such as the AutoDesk Suite of products (e.g. AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Revit, Navisworks, and Vault)
- Demonstrated excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated excellent analytical and computer skills required
- Familiarity with ASME codes and product application
The base pay range for this Piping Designer role is $80,000 - $95,000 annually.
