Description

Role Summary

Voices Academies’ Intervention Teacher will be an experienced teacher with a track record of success and will be an inspiring and motivating educator who can work independently. Under the supervision of the Principal, the intervention teacher engages and supports all students receiving reading or math intervention leading to accelerated learning in accordance with the State academic content standards. The intervention Teacher maintains and creates an effective environment for student learning. Intervention Teachers also establish efficacious relationships with pupils’ to motivate them to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to meet grade level expectations and excel academically. The ideal candidate will have an unwavering commitment to fully support Voices mission, vision and values of the school and must be willing to actively and enthusiastically participate in a professional learning community.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching:

  • Provides intensive intervention learning experiences and teaches, reading, language arts, mathematics and other general elements of the course of study

  • Create an atmosphere through personal example and efficacious relationships with students which inspire academic achievement and an enthusiasm for learning

  • Organize classroom systems/procedures/routines and manage student behavior to ensure all students are fully engaged in learning

  • Develop lesson plans consistent with Voices Best Practices and Guidelines (including guided reading), instructional materials and curriculums and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student

  • Provide instruction to students with special needs in accordance with IEP utilizing support services as appropriate; participate in IEP meetings as appropriate

  • Motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary education

Assessing:

  • Monitor student's progress and evaluate the student's achievement in relation to learning objectives and revise learning objectives when necessary

  • Assess students regularly, records results, examine student assessment data, and refine classroom activities to differentiate instruction for each student

  • Prepares and provides progress reports; report cards; and other formal and informal assessment data to classroom teachers

  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative student data

  • Administer standardized tests and other school-selected tests in accordance with the school's assessment program

  • Maintains electronic assessment data

Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively to achieve Voices' vision

  • Work cooperatively with staff toward resolution of mutual concerns

  • Collaborate closely with other teachers, staff, and the principal to align curriculum across subjects, improve own and others’ instructional practices and share best practices

  • Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of lessons, units, and programs

  • Identify unique student needs and collaborates with other team members and outside service providers to diagnose and address learning challenges

  • Communicates with classroom teachers on a weekly basis

Professional Activities:

  • Actively participate in professional development activities, including retreats

  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, Voices mission, vision, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior and teacher compact

  • Maintain and prepare reports and student records and classroom matters as directed

  • Maintain professional relationships with pupils, parents, colleagues and supervising staff members

  • Keep anecdotal records about student behavior and progress for use when generating IEPs and in conferences with parents

  • Other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications


Voices Academies Intervention Teacher candidates will have the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficient or Master teacher level if internal hire

  • CA Credential: Multiple Subject or if out of state, willingness to purse a CA Credential

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Proven results and guided reading expertise

  • Knowledge of subject matter, including California Common Core Standards

  • Demonstrated passion for the mission, vision and values of Voices Academies with a deep commitment to improving the lives of students from low-income communities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish

  • Outstanding written, speaking, and organizational skills with experience interacting with a broad range of stakeholders

  • Commitment to accelerated educational progress of children

  • Experience or commitment to public education, social justice, efficacy and equity

  • Works well in a high pressure environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid bilingual authorization (BCLAD or equivalent , BCC, ELD, or LDS, etc.)

  • Knowledge of and experience working with low-income communities preferred

  • Understanding of dual immersion instructional practices and school design and the unique characteristics of public charter schools is a plus

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Google Apps

Working Conditions:

  • Regular requirement to stand, sit, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, stoop, kneel and crouch

  • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • Occasional evening and or weekend work

  • Occasional travel

  • Willingness to be trained as needed

Prior to Employment: Once an offer has been extended, a candidate must meet the following criteria to receive a final offer:

  • First Aid/CPR certification

  • Clear criminal background check

  • Valid TB clearance

Key Compensation:

  • Hourly Pay Range: $32.70 - $42.40 per hour

  • Position follows 11-month Calendar
