What are the responsibilities and job description for the WELDER / FABRICATOR position at Voigt-Abernathy?
We are looking for a welder & fabricator for our Houston area shop with the following skills or experience:
• Carbon steel
• Stainless steel structural welding
• Carbon and stainless-steel pipe welding
• MIG welding
• Carbon, aluminum and stainless steel TIG welding
• Ability to read structural fabrication / assembly drawings as required
• General millwright experience recommended
• Certified with successful results on the GMAW and GTAW testing
Normal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Read and interpret shop fabrication drawings
• Work with other fabricators to weld structural baseplates for pumps and other rotating equipment
• Cut structural steel and piping for jobs with band saw as necessary
• Be able to use drill press, mag drill, welding equipment, painting equipment and other standard fabrication shop equipment
• Assist in assembling pumps and rotating equipment on baseplates
• Be able to lift normal objects located within a fabrication shop
• Be able to use a forklift
• Keep fabrication shop area clean and safe while caring for provided tools and equipment
All applications will be considered however preference will be given to those with a minimum of 5 years of experience. Prior experience with industrial pumps, motors and related equipment, water treatment pumps & controls will be valuable.
