What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Engineer (Entry Level/ New Grad) position at Voith Paper?
Summary:
Voith Paper is a part of the Voith Group and is a supplier to the paper industry. We are looking for highly motivated candidates for entry level technical positions in North America through our Regional Graduate Program (RGP). This program utilizes an initial rotational training program for up to 18 months. The job rotations expose RGP members to all aspects of our business: Manufacturing, Application Engineering and Field Sales/Service. Candidates are expected to work at Voith locations such as Florence (MS), Appleton (WI), and Savannah (GA). The end result is a salaried position in the area that is the best fit for both Voith and the individual.
Candidates should have a 4 year degree or be completing one soon. Engineering or Science degrees are typical, but not required. Exposure to the paper industry or other industrial settings would be beneficial, but is not required. This comprehensive training and diverse experience ensure that RGP candidates gain a well-rounded understanding of the industry and the company and find the best fit for their skills and interests at the end of the program. This program offers mentorship that is invaluable for personal and professional growth! We are seeking two candidates to start simultaneously, which we believe will foster better information exchange and provide a partner to confide in and compare notes with. Responsibilities:
- During the 18-month Regional Graduate Program, there will be rotations within Voith sites that will introduce RGP candidates to many facets of the Voith business including sales, product design, manufacturing as well as many other skilled positions.
- These positions will work directly with our local specialists to learn the basics in all aspects of our business.
This includes:
Manufacturing processes and product optimization
The paper-making process and how our products fit
Troubleshooting our products in operation on paper machines
Selling skills and building of customer relations to Product Application.
- You will be assigned a mentor who will act as a partner, support your career development as a professional within Voith.
- As Voith Paper and the paper industry are global, some level of communication with counterparts in Europe and Asia may be required.
- Communication and team skills are critical, both for customer interaction and for effective internal cooperation. We have manufacturing plants, customers and Sales/Service/Application people located across North America. Building good communications channels beyond your mentors is important.
Requirements:
- A 4 year degree in Engineering or Science is desirable, but not mandatory. Business or other backgrounds will be considered.
- Sales/Service/Application work consists of considerable time on and around paper machines. You must be comfortable in an industrial environment. Some lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching and balancing is necessary.
- Frequent customer and internal interactions require professional communication and team skills, as well as computer and technical abilities.
- You must have good written and verbal communication skills. Some proficiency in German, Spanish or Portuguese could be beneficial.
- You must be ambitious with entrepreneurial drive and thinking.
- Mobility requirement: flexibility and willingness to relocate will be a selection factor.
