Position Summary
This position plans and implements a well-rounded and stimulating program of activities for seniors that fosters a positive atmosphere and meets the spiritual, cultural, physical, intellectual, and social needs of residents both inside and outside the Community. The primary responsibility of the Life Engagement and Memory Care Manager is the organization, conduct, and evaluation of planned activities in Assisted Living and Memory Care.

• Supervise activities/transportation staff, if applicable; provide training; set hours of work; provide performance feedback both informally and formally; recognize both appropriate and inappropriate behaviors and performance (provide rewards and discipline); a portion of work among subordinate if applicable.
• Develop, organize, plan, implement and evaluate a well-rounded and stimulating holistic activity program, which addresses the needs and limitations of residents.
• Assess the needs of the residents. Observes when a resident's needs have changed and create an activity plan to encompass the changes.
• Implement the Memory Care Program when working with Memory Care residents.
• Completion of Memory Care Life Journey Questionnaire and About Me.
• Completion of the Observational Cognitive Staging tool
• In service Memory Care Staff in Memory Care Training Modules and ensure information carry over.
• Attend monthly Life Engagement and Memory Care calls.
• Arranges for appropriate spiritual activities both in and outside of the community as reflected by resident preferences.
• Arranges for a variety of exercise opportunities suitable for the elderly population to enhance residents’
mobility, strength, bone mass, and social interaction.
• Communicates with other department heads and staff in order to gain necessary participation in activities as necessary.
• Performs activity assessments on all new residents and reassesses each year for all residents in order to understand resident abilities and preferences.
• Attends Resident Council Meetings and takes minutes in order to record all suggestions or concerns of the residents.
• Manages expenses within given budget parameters utilizing spend-down sheets.
• Keeps sufficient activity program and craft supplies on hand for in-house entertainment.
• Participates on weekends in the Manager on Duty program as assigned.
• Recruits and trains volunteers to assist with activities in the community.
• Attend weekly department head meeting.
• Participate in New Hire Orientation program and other regular associate meetings or functions.
• Attend weekly care conferences.
• Conduct/Attend monthly resident meeting.
• Decorate for holidays and special occasions and assure community is always appropriately decorated.
• Conduct memorial services.
• Write and edit the monthly newsletter.
• Make and post daily announcements.
• Make weekly bulletins for residents.
• Design and post creative monthly bulletin boards and activities calendar.
• Create memory Care Activity Calendar adapted specifically to meet resident ability and cognitive level.
• Lead large group activities, e.g. discussion groups, sing-a-longs, exercise classes.
• Arrange for appropriate entertainment for residents.
• Assist residents with gardening projects.
• Instruct residents on arts and crafts projects.
• Conduct tours as needed.
• Assist Director of Sales with large community events.
• Perform special projects as requested by supervisor.
• Be familiar with Volante Senior Living Policies & Procedures Manual and Volante Senior Living Team Member Handbook.
• Maintains appropriate degree of confidentiality of all pertinent personal or health information concerning residents and staff.
• Completes all mandatory compliance, HIPAA and state and federal regulatory training as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned and which relate to the success of Volante Senior Living.
• Provide support to other departments, as directed.
