Summary / Objective : Perform non-clinical resident care duties and services, including assistance in
personal care, social and recreational activities, nutrition and meal services, housekeeping and other
tasks as needed for the continued well-being of the resident. Assist with promoting a compassionate
physical and psychosocial environment for the residents while helping maintain clean and sanitary
conditions in satellite kitchens, dining areas and resident areas.
Resident Assistants will work in accordance with the facilities mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures.
Essential Job Functions
- Assist residents with their activities of daily living, encouraging residents on their personal cares such as : oral care, personal hygiene, nutrition, and personal appearance.
- Support residents to and from scheduled appointments (pushing wheelchairs and provide
fluids) as needed.
Set up personal care items for residents (toothbrush / toothpaste, comb, brush, etc.).Assist residents with applying, removing, cleaning and storage such items as glasses,hearing aids.
Assist residents with dressing and grooming, consistent with weather conditions andaccording to their needs, wishes and desires.
Support resident's participation in activity programs, assisting them (when needed) to theactivity location and encourage participation in the activities.
Respond to call lights but do not perform any direct patient care - referring such requeststo the CNAs / Nurses.
Assist residents in wheelchairs to and from dining, activities and through the building.Does not transfer or reposition residents.Guiding residents to dining room, setting up tables, cleaning up the dining room andcollection of meal trays from common areas as well as residents' rooms.
Ensure residents have water and snacks.Maintain residents' rooms in a neat, orderly, and clutter-free environment.Assists in maintaining a clean, comfortable, and safe environment.Room rounds to check on residents each hour.Assist residents in calling their loved ones (phone or tablets provided by facility).Qualifications :
Be at least 18 years old.Have ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.Be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and to work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors.Be willing to assist others, including co-workers.Maintain regular attendance.Meet all local health regulations, pass post-employment physical exam if required.
