Regional Director of Operations - Southern Oregon

To lead administrators and manage the overall operations of facilities in accordance with customer needs, government regulations and Company policies, with focus on maintaining excellent care for residents/patients, maintaining census at desired levels, successfully managing Human Resources for facilities in specific region, accountable for meeting financial/budget goals while achieving business objectives for each facility.

Compensation: $150K (DOE)(Salaried)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of bachelor's degree.
  • Must be a Licensed Nursing Home Adminsitrator.
  • Must have ability to complete multiple projects.
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess basic computer skills, including e-mail use.
  • Must be able to travel, including overnight stays.
  • Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents, families, and government regulators, and to work cooperatively with other associates at all levels.
  • Experience in performance management and effective leadership.
  • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
  • Must meet all local health regulations and pass post-employment physical exam if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation and reference inquiry.

Essential Job Functions

Facility Management

  • Oversees the leadership of the facilities in specific regions. Leads the facility management staff and consultants in developing and working from a business plan that focuses on all aspects of facility operations, including setting priorities and job assignments. In working with the facility administrators, communicates policies, evaluates performance, provides feedback, and assists, observes, coaches and disciplines as needed.
  • Develops an environment that allows for creative thinking, problem solving and empowerment in the development of a facility management team.
  • Oversees administrators in their duties, with regular rounds, to monitor delivery of nursing care, operation of support departments, cleanliness, and appearance of the facility; morale of the staff; and ensures resident needs are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Oversees administrators in their providing excellent customer service both to internal and external customers through the ongoing support and implementation of the Candour Management customer service initiatives and business objectives.
  • Utilizes and manages the distribution and utilization of survey information to address areas of importance as defined by our customers.
  • Works with administrators to ensure consultants and other support resources are appropriately utilized and a high level of interdepartmental teamwork at each facility is maintained.
  • Ensures each facility maintains building and grounds to appropriate standards and that equipment and work areas are clean, safe, and orderly, and any hazardous conditions are addressed; ensure that Universal Precaution and Infection Control, Isolation, Fire Safety and Sanitation practices and procedures are followed.

Supervision

  • Supervises several nursing care facilities. Oversees the designation of the name and title of the persons at each facility who shall act as administrator in any temporary absence of the administrator, with full authority and freedom to act in the best interests of resident safety and well-being.

Compliance Management

  • Ensure that each administrator maintains a working knowledge of and ensure compliance with all governmental regulations.
  • Use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures.
  • Ability to remain calm in emergency situations and when handling multiple tasks.

Other Functions and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage administrators in their responsibilities to supervise, conduct and participate in department and facility education activities and staff meetings.
  • Utilize the quality improvement process in all areas of facility operation in each facility.
  • Ability to travel extensively.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must adhere to Code of Conduct and Business Ethics policy, including documentation and reporting responsibilities.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement activities as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned or needed.
  • Ability to understand and apply training from in-service education and ability to instruct personnel during training education and staff meetings.

Facility Staffing and Retention

  • Monitor Human Resources practices at each facility to ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies, and to ensure practices that maintain high morale and staff retention to include effective communication, prompt problem resolution, proactive supervisory practices, and maintaining a proactive work environment.
  • Oversee the administrators in their management of turnover and ensure current and future staffing through development of recruiting sources, and through appropriate selection, orientation, training, staff education and development.

Business Management

  • Manage facility budgets and business practices to include labor costs, payables, and receivables. Monitor business activities to ensure procedures and standards are followed, appropriate handling of funds and that sound credible business practices are followed at all times.
  • Oversee administrators in their communication of budget guidelines and expectations to department managers. Meet established budget and Accounts Receivable goals.

Marketing and Revenue Management

  • Oversee administrators in their development and implementation of a marketing strategy for each facility that reflects service opportunities, competition, potential market area changes, and which maximizes census, pay or mix, and ancillary revenues.
  • Lead and monitor key staff and facility staff to play an active role in carrying out the marketing plan. Take initiative in evaluation, development and implementation of new business opportunities that meets the needs of the community and benefits the facility/Company.

Community Regulations

  • Oversee administrators in their development of positive relationships on behalf of the Company with government regulators, residents, families, area health care, physicians, and the community at large. Acts as a resource of information to the community related to health care issues.

Safety

  • Comply with all Company safety policies, regulations and requirements regarding fire and life safety.
  • Comply with all Company safety policies regulations and requirements involving employee safety and patient safety. This includes but is not limited to a zero tolerance for harassment and violence; following infection control procedures; following safe patient handling as required with your specific job position.
  • May be required to assist in the evacuation of patients during emergency situations.
  • Meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility.

Residents' Rights and Positive Relationships

  • Understand, comply with, and promote all rules and regulations regarding residents' rights.
  • Promote positive relationships with residents, visitors, and regulators, to include presenting a professional appearance.
