Summary

Operates forklift in shipping/receiving areas, unloading corrugated sheets to production floor and/or production machines and loads finished corrugated boxes for shipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Committed to the practice of applying safety guidelines while operating forklifts.

Demonstrates a variety of skills needed to successfully operate forklift and other tools/equipment in a safe and proper manner.

Responsible for the general maintenance of forklift and reporting any issues or needed repairs to maintenance staff.

Safely unloads varying sizes of corrugated sheets and packaging supplies from trailers to proper locations on production floor or directly to assigned production machines.

Safely loads finished corrugated boxes/products on trailers for shipment to customers.

Demonstrates proper skills in bar code scanning and commuter entry of corrugated products to keep track of incoming/outgoing products and inventory.

Works in coordination with Shipping and Production Supervisors to keep products flowing through and out of production areas.

Ability to perform regular physical inventory as needed through barcoding and cycle counting.

Performs general clean up in and around shipping/receiving work areas including sweeping trailers, organizing load securing devices (straps & load bars) warehouse organization such as stacking and reorganizing warehouse aisles.

Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner or involves appropriate people in decision-making process.

Meets productivity standards; Completes work in timely manner; Strives to increase productivity; Works quickly and efficiently.

Conducts periodic quality checks on products while unloading corrugated sheets and confirms accuracy and quality of shipments to customers.

Accountable for completion and submission of accurate shipping/receiving scans, computer entry and paperwork.

Communicates effectively with supervisors regarding shipping/receiving processes, quality, productivity, and safety issues.

Maintains acceptable attendance and punctuality record according to written policy.

Overtime on a regular basis is required.

Ability to work independently and/or in a team environment.

Ability to learn standard industry terminology.

Ability to accurately maintain and store inventory.

Ability to read and comprehend shipping/receiving paperwork such as Bill of Ladings, production lineups, trucking line ups, receiving slips and internal Amtech system for reporting purposes and diary reporting.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years forklift experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to peers, supervisors, and other individuals of the organization. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. English speaking skills required.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to read to a 16th of an inch on a tape measure.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Ability to meet schedule demands.

Computer Skills

Ability to operate and understand bar code scanning system and laptop computer attached to forklift. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to learn Amtech -Production Reporting System, Bar Code Scanning and Diary Reporting.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

NO CERTIFICATE, LICENSE, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED.

Forklift certification required.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time on a forklift; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The individual is occasionally required to climb or balance. The individual is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The individual must regularly lift and/or move 10-25lbs, frequently lift 25-50lbs and, with help, occasionally lift/or move 50-100lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly exposed to moving machinery and/or mechanical parts/airborne particles. The individual is occasionally exposed to seasonal hot/cold temperature in the production environment, and minimal risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and is such that personal hearing protection is required.
