We are currently searching for a talented Bridge Engineer to join our Mid-Atlantic Region in Springfield, VA, Charleston, WV, Camp Hill, PA, Pittsburgh, PA or the surrounding areas.

The ideal candidate will assist their department by performing basic engineering-related tasks including research, development, design, and delivery on assigned project(s).

What You’ll Be Doing

• Perform calculations and analysis for designing bridge and transportation structures using various bridge design software programs
• Review calculations and design details developed by others
• Work sharing on project assignments throughout our corporate footprint
• Perform load ratings on bridges of various type size and complexity
• Attend meeting with clients and other professionals and organizations
• Develop solutions to challenges presented by the client within budget, schedule, and project constraints
• Review shop drawings and other construction related submittals
• Organize and maintain project files
• Quantity take-off and engineer’s estimate
  
  

What You Need To Have

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Valid Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.) in Virginia preferred or ability to obtain
• 3 - 8 years of engineering experience in bridge design
• Bridge design experience
• Skilled in the use of Microstation or AutoCAD
• Technical expertise for the layout & design of bridges and related highway structures
• Familiarity with rehabilitation of existing bridges and highway structures
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines.
• Valid driver’s license.
• A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
