We are currently searching for an experienced P A Director of Roadway / Civil Engineering to support our Mid Atlantic Region located in Pennsylvania and to lead our civil / highway engineering growth and delivery in PA.

What you’ll be doing :

Oversee and participate in the design and review of all phases of highway plan development for our various transportation projects
Responsible for identifying and pursuing highway project opportunities
Responsible for the senior management and oversight of highway projects
Work sharing on project assignments throughout our corporate footprint
Attend meeting with clients and other professionals and organizations for the purposes of expanding our business and winning new work
Leading and supporting proposal efforts to pursue projects and contracts
Develop solutions to challenges presented by the client within budget, schedule, and project constraints
Organize and maintain project files
Building and managing a group of civil / highway engineers and technicians

What you need to have :

Qualified candidates will have, at a minimum, a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field

Professional engineering license in PA is required

20 years of civil engineering experience, along with staff management experience

Good verbal and written communication skills are required

Experience executing projects in a multi-disciplinary environment

Experience with roadway design software which may include MicroStation and Open Roads Designer 3D Modeler and other engineering related programs

Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously

Strong problem resolution abilities

Require good collaborative skills with a strong work ethic

The successful candidate will have experience in highway design including : Highway geometrics, roadway modeling and cross section development, grading and drainage, erosion and sediment control, storm water management, traffic control, signing and pavement marking, utility coordination, and right-of-way acquisition and construction plan development.

Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines.

Valid driver’s license.

A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
