We are currently searching for a Principal Investigator/Archaeologist to primarily to support ourSoutheast Region, but potentially companywide. Our ideal candidate would have 8 - 12 years of experience conducting archaeology studies for transportation and energy projects. Knowledge of DOT processes and experience with projects in Georgia and Florida should be a key part of your experience.

We are currently searching for a Principal Investigator/Archaeologist to primarily to support ourSoutheast Region, but potentially companywide. Our ideal candidate would have 8 - 12 years of experience conducting archaeology studies for transportation and energy projects. Knowledge of DOT processes and experience with projects in Georgia and Florida should be a key part of your experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Conducting and managing cultural resource investigations including field work, artifacts analysis and reporting
- Will work as part of a team of environmental professionals to support preparation of various environmental documents, such as those required by the National Environmental Policy Act, to coordinate other environmental resource studies, and to assist in identifying project alternatives to avoid/minimize impacts to identified archaeological resources
- Interpret available data (maps, land use plans, aerial photography, agency coordination) for environmental analysis
- Gather, organize, and maintain collected field data
- Computer skills necessary to prepare required reports, maps, etc.
- Master’s degree or higher in Anthropology, archaeology, or a related field. Registered professional archaeologist (RFA) preferred.
- Familiarity with ARPA permits, GNAHRGIS database searches, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), and NEPA
- Knowledge or experience of the process for obtaining State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) approval of prepared reports and permit applications
- Experience with GPR surveys and analysis
- Experience with various clients such as DOTs, USACE, Power companies and local governments
- Applicable professional training and experience using ESRI ArcView and Arc Map GIS programs is required. Experience with Bentley Microstation CAD software is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license, owns a vehicle or is able to rent a vehicle (for travel)
