We are currently searching for an experienced Roadway Engineer to support our Carolinas Region located in Raleigh or Charlotte, NC.
The ideal candidate will assist their department by performing basic engineering-related tasks including research, development, design and delivery on assigned project(s).
What you’ll be doing:
- Contributes to the preparation or modification of reports, plans and designs for projects including roadway design plans, traffic management plans, signing and delineation plans, utilities coordination, utilities design, roadway drainage, and erosion control plans.
- May assist with Land Development projects.
- Assists in the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates
- Participate in the collection and analysis of data and preparation of satisfactory designs
- Perform design calculations and conduct investigative analyses toward completion of assigned design tasks, and direct preparation of design specifications
- Perform quantity estimates, detailing and check calculations and drawings
- Organize scheduling of specific tasks and assignments
- Performs other duties as assigned
What you need to have:
- BS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
- Professional Engineering License in the State of North Carolina preferred. Applicants with EIT (E.I) Certification will be considered
- 5 – 15 years of experience in roadway design
- Proficient with OpenRoads, MicroStation/Geopak, and/or Autodesk Civil 3D
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines.
- Valid driver’s license.
- A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
