We are currently searching for an experienced Traffic EIT to support our East Gulf Region located in Brentwood/Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, or Memphis, TN. Candidates must be willing to relocate to Tennessee if out of state.

We are currently searching for an experienced Traffic EIT to support our East Gulf Region located in Brentwood/Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, or Memphis, TN. Candidates must be willing to relocate to Tennessee if out of state.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assist with preparation of technical reports for traffic impact studies, interchange access requests, or safety studies
- Assist with development of traffic impact studies, land use planning, master plan studies, traffic signal warrant studies, bikeway planning and design, community and campus planning, technical report writing
- Work on temporary traffic control plan/traffic management plan (TMP) and signing, pavement marking plans
- Work on traffic signal design plans for new intersections and signal modifications to facilitate multimodal accommodations
- Assist in preparing conceptual intersection layouts, schematics, signal timings and engineering reports
- Assist with and prepare roadway design plans
- Attend project meetings with clients
- Learn project budgets to meet financial metrics
- Potential to learn and participate in business development activities
- Performs other duties as assigned
- BS in Civil Engineering
- Recent college graduates encouraged to apply
- EIT (E.I) Certification is desired but not required
- 0 - 4 years of experience
- Experience with transportation planning, including comprehensive corridor analysis, local programs, public involvement, safety and access, pedestrian and bicycle planning, multimodal planning and traffic operations are desired but not required
- Familiarity with DOT traffic design standards, MUTCD and AASHTO
- Familiarity with traffic analyses software such as VISSIM, Synchro/Simtraffic, Sidra Intersection, HCS are desired but not required
- Experience with OpenRoads Designer is desired but not required
- Self-starter and capable of completing tasks with minimal oversight
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
- Willingness and motivation to curate and eventually develop personal client base
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
- Valid driver’s license
- A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
