Position Overview
The Area Director - Midlands, SC will oversee all Volleyball Academy operations within the designated region, including Columbia, Lexington, Irmo, Camden and surrounding areas. This leadership role encompasses recruiting and managing coaches, securing and managing facilities, organizing programs, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality volleyball experiences for youth athletes. The Area Director will collaborate closely with the Regional Director and Volleyball Academy Management to drive program growth and maintain operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Coach Recruitment and Management:
- Identify, hire, and retain qualified coaches who align with the academy's mission and values in conjunction with Volleyball Academy Management.
- Provide ongoing training, mentorship, and performance evaluations to ensure coaching excellence.
Facility Acquisition and Management:
- Secure appropriate gymnasiums and training facilities for practices, clinics, and events in conjunction with Volleyball Academy Management.
- Negotiate and manage rental agreements, ensuring facilities meet safety and quality standards.
Program Coordination:
- Develop and oversee class schedules for all programs within the area, following the Volleyball Academy practice plan.
- Ensure timely communication of schedules to coaches, players, and parents, adhering to academy guidelines.
- Lead on-court events, including classes and camps ensuring all events align with academy standards and provide a positive experience for participants.
Budget and Expense Management:
- Maintain operating expenses within the allocated budget for the area.
- Become familiar with the Volleyball Academy program registration system.
- Possess a solid understanding of program profitability metrics
Program Growth:
- Implement innovative and entrepreneurial grass root marketing strategies to retain and increase player enrollment and team formation year over year.
- Engage in grassroots marketing efforts and community outreach to promote programs.
- Increase the knowledge and effectiveness of coaching staff through training and mentorship.
- Contribute to building and developing a marketing playbook that can be leveraged to expand into additional markets.
Communication:
- Maintain clear and professional communication with coaches, managers, parents, and academy support staff.
- Address issues promptly, professionally, and effectively, fostering a positive community environment.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all programs comply with local regulations and academy policies.
- Prioritize the safety and well-being of all participants in every aspect of program delivery.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Proven experience in sports program management, volleyball coaching, or a related leadership role.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple facilities and classes effectively.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Competence in budget management and operational planning.
Personal Attributes:
- Passion for youth sports and athlete development.
- Ability to work evenings to meet program needs.
