A client of Innova Solutions is immediately hiring for a Medical Coder
Position type : Full-time, Contract to hire
Duration : 3 Months
Location : Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Georgia, or New Mexico - Remote
As a Medical Coder you will :
- High-dollar or specialty inpatient / outpatient accounts, ensuring high-quality coding with a 95% accuracy rate. Responsibilities include abstracting data, validating orders, managing accounts, and collaborating with various departments to ensure accurate billing and reduce denials.
- Multispecialty (Urology, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Pain, Anesthesia, OB / GYN, Endocrinology)
- Assign codes for diagnoses, treatments, and procedures according to the ICD-10-CM / PCS Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting through review of coding-critical documentation, to generate appropriate MS / APR DRG.
- Validate admit orders and discharge dispositions.
- Work from assigned coding queue, completing and re-assigning accounts correctly.
- Manage accounts on ABS Hold, finalizing accounts when corrections have been made, in a timely manner.
- Meet or exceed an accuracy rate of 95%.
- Assist in implementing solutions to reduce backend errors.
- Identify and appropriately report all hospital-acquired conditions (HAC).
- Expertly query providers for missing or unclear documentation by working with the HIM department and Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists.
- Completion of an accredited Baccalaureate Health Informatics or Health Information Management program or an AHIMA-approved Coding Certificate Program is preferred.
- Candidate must reside in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Georgia, or New Mexico to be considered.
