Medication Technician
1. Under the supervision of a nurse, administer and accurately record the administration of medications as prescribed by a resident’s physician(s) in accordance with company’s policies and all applicable state and federal guidelines.
2. Obtain, record, and report a resident’s vital signs as required during the administration of medications.
3. Manage the supply of medications available for administration to residents, by ordering medications as needed, receiving medication deliveries, and reconciling any differences.
4. Provide an accounting for all medications ordered, received, stored, and administered in accordance with the company’s policies and all applicable state and federal guidelines. Verify quantities of controlled substances at each shift change. Notify Director of Resident Services of any discrepancies or issues related to medications.
5. Store medications in a secure manner in accordance with the company’s policies and all applicable state and federal guidelines.
6. Assist residents with the activities of daily living (“ADL”), including, but not limited to, dressing and undressing, bathing, personal hygiene, mobility devices, and care of ADL devices (hearing aids, eyeglasses, and the like).
7. Provide assistance with housekeeping tasks, use of the telephone, laundry, escort, transportation, and mail delivery.
8. Observe and report changes in residents’ physical condition and cognitive/emotional status.
9. Conduct resident checks and resident rounds and monitor for environmental hazards. Record any incidents, errors, accidents, and hazards. Notify the supervising director on duty of any of these types of events.
10. Assist in tasks related to dining, including, but not limited to, escorting residents to the dining room, setting up and cleaning tables, serving meals, and busing tables.
11. Order and monitor use of resident care supplies. Routinely inspect, clean, and monitor equipment and supplies to ensure resident safety. Report any equipment or supply issues to the Director of Resident Services for correction or repair.
12. Participate in staff meetings, in-service education programs, projects, and committees as assigned.
13. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
1. Candidate will meet necessary requirements to administer medication to residents under nurse delegation or state certification/licensure as indicated by state regulations and maintain such certification/licensure throughout employment.
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to communicate effectively with residents, families, and other team members.
3. Good understanding of Med Terminology and Pharmacological Terminology.
4. Must be proficient in the use of computers, specifically, EMAR.
5. Experience in Senior care preferred.
6. First Aid certification per state requirements.
7. Complete company and state required background check prior to first day. 8. Health screening and T.B./CXR clearance per state requirement.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $20.70 - $25.00 per hour
