What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crisis Intervention Specialist (Wednesday-Saturday, 11 pm- 9 am) position at Volunteer Behavioral Health Care System?
Volunteer Behavioral Health is now hiring for a Crisis Intervention Specialist III in Cleveland on 3rd shift (Wednesday-Saturday, 11 pm- 9 am).
Duties include:
1. Provide crisis assessment, counseling, linkage and other services to persons in a mental health
crisis to include alcohol and/or drug abuse problems
2. Work face-to-face with consumers in assisting them in the resolution of their crisis and providing
intervention and referrals in the least restrictive environment.
3. Knowledge of computer skills to be able to search and enter data in the Electronic Record system.
4. Respond when dispatched or to clients presenting to a Walk in Center, complete evaluations and data entry in an efficient manner to meet standards when possible.
5. Complete all data entry according to quality management standards and procedures.
6. Provide follow up phone calls within 24 hours to make sure follow-up instructions are understood or referrals were accepted.
7. Participate in staff meetings, training and supervisory sessions as required.
8. CIS I with required years of experience and approval from the supervisor will provide Clinical Review to staff requiring review and other staff as needed.
9. CIS I, (until approved by the supervisor and meeting years of experience requirement) will staff each case with a master’s level CIS II or III or the Crisis Services Director prior to disposition
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, or related area. Able to maintain a courteous, diplomatic, and helpful orientation. Above average assessment skills, particularly for suicidal potential and potential to harm others. Able to use good judgment and function well in pressure situations. Knowledgeable of commitment procedures. Knowledgeable of resources. Timely, accurate and thorough documentation of client records as well as work activities. Must maintain certification in CPR and First Aid required. Certification must be completed with first 30 days of employment. Company will provide training.
