Volunteer Behavioral Health - Jasper Campus has an immediate opening for a Full-Time Peer Support Aide.
Full Time M-F 8am – 4pm
EXEMPLARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Agrees to follow all applicable laws and regulations, including VBHCS Standards of Conduct and VBHCS Policies and Procedures, in order to create and maintain a healthcare and business environment that is committed to integrity and ethical conduct.
Responsible for duties as assigned by the Program Manager, which will include, but not be limited to:
Serve as Mentor
- Serve as a role model, advocate and mentor of recovery
- provide a safe, healthy, inclusive environment for all members and staff
- thru healthy, encouraging conversations with members and staff
- promote self-determination and personal responsibility in self-directed recovery
- encourages wellness and healthy leisure activities
- thru maintaining their own health, hygiene and recovery
- maintains professional boundaries with members and staff
- stays engaged with members in a mentor capacity during program hours
- Assist in developing individual recovery goals & management of symptoms
- teaches about symptoms, triggers & medication reactions
- provides health support group opportunities
- provide recovery education and support s outlined in the contract
- Recognizes a members or staffs triggers, or is in crisis and assists with resources when they are unable to
- resolve it on their own.
- Provides encouragement & resources while helping members navigate thru the mental health, housing,
- benefits and employment systems.
- Maintains confidentiality of all members as outlined in the HIPAA, licensing and agency requirements
- Complete all required trainings assigned to the position
Contract Requirements
- Provides educational, support, movement, leisure & community services activities that are required by contract.
- Attends all evidence based curriculum, peer support & food handling trainings as required by contract. Attends all other trainings requested by Program Manager
- Completes all necessary documentation for the contract activities needed for audits and monthly reports
- Let’s Program manager know if resources & supplies are needed to complete activities
- Assists with monthly calendars, outreach, and presentations about Peer Support services.
- Assists in other duties as deemed necessary, including cleaning, daily maintenance, and
- closing procedures.
Transportation
- Maintains an F endorsement and is able to transport members in a company van.
- Picks up members on a prearranged schedule
- Maintains control of vehicle at all times to ensure safety to the consumers.
- Ensure all vehicle rules are observed (seatbelts, no smoking or eating, etc.).
- Does routine checks daily of van lights, signals, emergency flashers, horn, wipers, gauges, and fuel.
- Ensure the van is clean and presentable to the public as it represents the Drop In Center.
Miscellaneous
- Follow all applicable laws and regulations, including VBHCS Standards of Conduct and VBHCS Policies and Procedures, in order to create and maintain a healthcare and business environment that is committed to integrity and ethical conduct.
- Informs supervisor of changes in schedule or work hours so adjustments to programming can occur. Request any time off at least 2 weeks in advance.
- Completes job duties as assigned by the Program Manager
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED preferred. Must be able to interact with members, encourage involvement in daily activities, provide transportation, and maintain strict confidentiality of information regarding members and staff in all situations. Requirements include a valid TN Driver’s License with F Endorsement & a good driving record.
