Leadman Position

The Production Leadman role will be responsible for assisting in training, scheduling, and leadership of hourly employees, as well as any contractor activities for the site. Responsible for production requirements, preventative maintenance, and organizing plant repairs and mobile equipment repairs. Successfully implement and help coordinate the Volunteer Materials Safety Program and ensure compliance with all applicable State and Federal regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Will take an active role in the plant safety initiatives.
  • Always ensures a safe work environment for self and others.
  • Fills in for Foreman as needed.
  • Conducts MSHA pre-shift safety inspections of equipment and work areas.
  • Trains employees on new tasks or equipment
  • Maximizes performance of stationary equipment by performing repairs and ensuring preventative maintenance is completed on a timely basis.
  • Ensures Preventative Maintenance and Stationary Plant Repairs are scheduled and prepared.
  • Experience with Heavy Equipment, Plant Operations, Maintenance Planning
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Promote Teamwork and Team Building

Requirements:

  • Observe and uphold all Volunteer Materials Safety policies and State & Federal Laws.
  • 5 years’ experience production in an aggregate setting
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to lead, manage, and motivate.
  • Excellent time management skills: ability to prioritize, delegate and manage multiple tasks with strong planning skills.
  • Experience in operating heavy equipment
  • Excellent verbal and written skills; ability to interact effectively with internal and external (i.e. vendors and contractors) individuals.
  • Computer Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook a plus
  • Must pass drug screen and have a clean driving record.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Dependable and predictable attendance is required.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn new skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Must have hand-eye coordination and vision to safely operate mobile equipment.
  • Must be able to perform duties in a safe manner. This job requires the ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots and hearing protection.
  • Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Able to lift 75 pounds.
  • Willing and able to use shovel when required.
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Able to work from elevated platforms.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical/drug/alcohol test.
  • Must be able to climb stairs to a height of 60 ft. and work at this height.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Effective coordination and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Understand team-based management.
  • Self-starter with ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Must be able to read, write and verbally communicate in the English language.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in Quality control a plus
