Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, afternoons/evenings
POSITION SUMMARY
As an Out-of-School Time Intern in our elementary out-of-school time programs, you will gain a basic understanding of child development, develop and practice classroom management skills, be introduced to planning and implementing age-appropriate academic and/or social-emotional lessons, and learn the basics of operating a licensed school age program. You will participate in the following learning activities:
- Shadow Youth Development Professionals and Site Coordinators while assisting with supervision of youth and completing other operational tasks
- Engage with youth through play, reading and games
- With support from the Site Coordinator and/or Operations Manager, plan, revise and implement one academic and/or social-emotional lesson plan that is age appropriate and aligns with state educational standards.
- Study applicable South Dakota Administrative Rules and help organize, clean and prepare out-of- school time spaces according to licensing standards.
