POSITION SUMMARY
Make a real difference in the lives of young students by ensuring they have safe and reliable transportation home from out-of-school time programs! As an Out-of-School Time Transportation Specialist, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of elementary students as they travel to and from our out-of-school programs. You’ll be the friendly face they see every day, creating a safe and welcoming atmosphere while transporting kids home in our 12-passenger and 15-passenger vans. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS STATEMENT(S)
A. Safely drive elementary students to and/or from out-of-school time programming, utilizing 12-passenger and/or 15-passenger vans.
B. Plan efficient routes that minimize drive time.
C. Ensure that students follow proper safety procedures, including seat belt, booster seat and car seat use as necessary.
D. Enforce behavior expectations during transport times and communicate any behavior challenges to Site Coordinator.
E. Successfully complete initial van driver training and participate in ongoing training as required.
F. Help create a welcoming atmosphere that is participant oriented and friendly.
G. Monitor basic maintenance of agency vehicles and coordinate vehicle maintenance needs with the Facilities Manager.
H. Clean vehicles as necessary.
I. Communicate with parents of students and supervisor if there are significant delays in estimated pick-up or drop-off times.
J. Keep required records of vehicle use.
Responsible for other duties as assigned.
POSITIONS QUALIFICATIONS
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Certifications & Licenses: Valid South Dakota driver’s license, with three years clear driving record and proof of liability insurance required.
Other Requirements: Must pass all applicable background checks. Able to lift a minimum of 60 pounds.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
A. Ability to Stand, Walk, sit, manually manipulate, reach outward and above shoulders, speak, climb, crawl, squat, kneel, and bend on a daily basis
B. Capability to Lift, carry, push or pull up to 60 lbs on a daily basis
