What are the responsibilities and job description for the Van Driver - Eleanor Corbett House position at Volunteers of America Delaware Valley?
The Van Driver will drive a 15-passenger van, transporting clients, making deliveries, and coordinating the maintenance of the agency vehicle.
SCOPE OF DUTIES
- Operate agency vehicle(s) in accordance with the NJ State Regulations and Laws.
- Coordinate the daily van schedule with appropriate program staff.
- Pick up furniture/donations, deliver mail to and from facilities, as well as Administration Office pick up/deliveries, may include the removal of the seats from the Van for use in delivering and picking up furniture/donations.
- Transport/escort clients to appointments as needed.
- Monitor clients' behavior while in the van. Report problems to the appropriate staff.
- Maintain a safe and clean operating environment in the van.
- Ensure that appropriate safety restraints are worn at all times by the driver of the van and all passengers.
- Ensure all routine maintenance and inspections are complete.
- Maintain records of mileage, passengers, and trips. Report to supervisor as required.
- Have the van washed and waxed on a routine basis.
- Satisfactory completion of agency Defensive Driving Training within the first three months of the date of hire.
- Interact (verbally and non-verbally) with clients, staff, and community members professionally with respect and courtesy.
- Maintain client and staff confidentiality in compliance with administrative policies and procedures.
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and training sessions.
