Alexandria’s House Support Staff are responsible for providing a holistic and individualized approach to meet the unique needs of young mothers. The goal of this position is to help young mothers work towards self-sufficiency by supporting them in learning how to parent, perform basic house cleaning, and develop essential independent living skills. Support Staff build relationships with the young mothers and their children, coach them through difficult situations, and provide support through positive youth development techniques. Additionally, they maintain the basic upkeep of the facility to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a Part-Time variable hour position, with shifts that may include evenings and overnight hours. Work hours will vary, including the following possibilities:
- Mid shift: 12:00pm to 9:00pm
- Overnight shift: 9:00pm to 9:00am
The work schedule will be adjusted based on employee availability. This role will also require being on-call on a rotating schedule.

Requirements
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED/HSEC.
- Experience: At least one (1) year of experience working directly with children and/or youth, OR two (2) years of continued education.
Certificates and Licenses:
- Eligibility for Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) license and application within 30 days of hire.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid/BBP within 6 months of employment.
- A negative TB test (administered no earlier than 8 months before the hire date).
- Tdap (adult Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis) and Influenza vaccinations prior to employment or evidence of current vaccinations.
- Must pass DCYF background check.
- Must be at least 21 years of age, per program requirements.
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
- Experience with Positive Youth Development (PYD).
- Training in Trauma-Informed Care.
- Lived experience with parenting or pregnancy.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations or marginalized communities.
