Position: Job Readiness Instructor
The Job Readiness Instructor will play a key role in the Career Access Program, a workforce development initiative designed to assist individuals with disabilities in developing the skills and confidence necessary to enter and succeed in the workplace. This position provides individualized and group training in essential job readiness skills, including communication, job search techniques, resume building, interview preparation, and workplace etiquette. The instructor will also offer tailored support to help program participants overcome specific challenges they may face due to their disabilities. The ideal candidate is motivated by a passion for workforce development and inclusive employment practices.
Career Access program is a community outreach initiative designed to offer vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities.
Location: Bronx, NY 10455
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 60 college credits or Associate’s degree in vocational rehabilitation or related field and 2-3 years of experience in workforce development, career coaching, or job readiness training, preferably with individuals with disabilities.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
Previous experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with physical, mental, or developmental disabilities, preferably in career counseling and workforce development, is preferred.
Spanish language fluency is a plus.
Employment Coordinator Principal Responsibilities:
Provide training on job readiness skills, including resume writing, cover letter preparation, job search strategies, interview techniques, and professional communication.
Work one-on-one with participants to assess their job readiness and provide tailored guidance and support.
Develop and implement engaging and accessible lesson plans and materials, adapting content to the diverse needs of individuals with disabilities.
Assist participants in identifying their strengths, transferable skills, and career interests.
Lead interactive workshops and group discussions on workplace etiquette, time management, and teamwork.
Utilize various teaching methods, including hands-on activities, role-playing, and technology tools, to ensure content is accessible to all learners.
Provide ongoing support to help participants overcome barriers to employment, such as addressing any disability-related concerns that may arise in the workplace.
Maintain open communication with the Program Manager and other team members to track participant progress and adjust instruction as needed.
Perform other related duties as required.
