Position: Retention Specialist
The Retention Specialist for the Career Access Program will play a pivotal role in ensuring the long-term success and job retention of participants enrolled in the Career Access Program. This individual will work directly with program participants, employers, and community partners to provide personalized support, identify challenges, and implement strategies to ensure participants’ continued success in their careers. The Retention Specialist will monitor participants' progress post-placement, resolve any barriers to success, and assist with ongoing professional development.
Career Access program is a community outreach initiative designed to offer vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities.
Location: Bronx, NY 10455
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree or 60 college credits courses in the human services field, or high school diploma or GED with 2 years of relevant experience in workforce development.
The position also requires a demonstrated verbal and written communication ability, including basic computer skills.
Retention Specialist Principal Responsibilities:
Develop individualized retention plans for each participant, focusing on overcoming barriers to job retention and career advancement. Collaborate with participants to set goals for career advancement and provide guidance on achieving those goals.
Provide ongoing one-on-one support to participants to address challenges related to their work environment, personal circumstances, or skill development.
Monitor participants' progress post-placement, conducting regular check-ins to assess job satisfaction and overall well-being.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with employers who have hired program participants, offering guidance on accommodating employees with disabilities.
Identify and resolve barriers to retention, such as workplace challenges, skill gaps, personal issues, or conflicts between the participant and employer.
Participate in outreach efforts to expand the program’s network of employers and community partners who are committed to hiring and retaining individuals with disabilities.
