Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is an anti-poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey and Westchester County including emergency, transitional and permanent housing. Our services extend to families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs , and others in need, including a special education preschool program.

Position: Associate Program Director

The Associate Program Director assists the Sector Director in managing the delivery of services to clients at the Jamaica Women’s Employment Shelter with the ultimate objective of assisting clients achieve independent living. In the absence of the Program Director, the Associate Program Director assumes the responsibilities of that position at Jamaica Women’s Employment Shelter.

Jamaica Women’s Employment Shelter is a transitional shelter for women who are experiencing homelessness and are employed or deemed employable, and; referred by the New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS). Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field with three years of relevant experience including two years in a supervisory capacity, managing shifts and implementing programs.

Associate Program Director’s Principal Responsibilities:

• Oversee the program’s Social Service staff
• Provides supervision to program staff such as the Case Managers, Employment Specialist, Shift Supervisors
• Supervises activities that lead to permanent placement
• Oversee placement and diversion targets. Gather reporting data
• Refer clients to the appropriate service providers
• Perform quality assurance activities related to auditing client charts and CARES use
• Develop solid discharge plans to sustain placements and maintain linkage agreements
• Performs other related tasks as assigned.
