PAY RATE : $63,053.40 - 66,372.00 PER YEAR
HEAD START / EARLY HEAD START
Through our Head Start and Early Head Start programs, we work with children (ages 0 – 5) and their families to provide the skills, confidence and stable home life necessary for a smooth transition into kindergarten and beyond. Children also receive a broad array of health services including screenings and referrals, maintenance of immunization schedules, nutrition assessments and follow-ups, mental health assessments as part of initial screenings, and determination if any mental or physical delays are present. Children receive health and dental services and have access to ongoing and acute and routine health and dental care. Enrolled children receive healthy meals, along with an assessment of their nutritional needs and the necessary follow-ups. Nutrition education is available for parents and incorporated into daily classroom activities for the children.
JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE
The Education Coordinator – Home Base works to ensure that all program options (EHS / HS / CCP / HB) are operated in a way that exemplifies the VOALA Birth to Five goals of providing children with educational experiences that help them grow cognitively, socially, emotionally and physically. Exercises considerable professional judgement and autonomy in decision-making with respect to the general operations of the various child development programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Duties
- Works with Birth- Five instructional staff to provide and monitor quality developmental environments and experiences for children, ensuring adherence with Head Start Performance Standards.
- Observes home visits and socializations on a regular basis and provides feedback to staff for purposes of their development in program-defined competency areas and job description responsibilities.
- Routinely inspect socialization locations for health, safety, fire and occupancy violations / compliance and takes necessary corrective action to assure that clearances, permits and licenses remain updated.
- Recommends the purchase of instructional materials, play equipment, and teaching aids for educational programs.
- Review and evaluates the Education Area activities to ensure compliance with Volunteers of America of Los Angeles and Head Start Performance standards.
- Attends all meeting required by the funding source and agency management. Prepares and submits required reports promptly and accurately.
- Participates in the recruitment, proper placement and transition of Special needs children and their families into the program. Maintain and monitors federal compliance with Disabilities Performance Standards.
- Reviews and analyzes assessments data and development action plans for improvement.
- Reports, records and confers with Program Manager, Education to obtain data required for planning activities of education, strengths and areas of concern.
